XHPVE-4 from Puerto Vallarta is an XHGC-5 relayer that runs off-network soap operas and a local newscast during the early afternoon hours on weekdays. During the local programming, the station uses "4 Vallarta" IDs. Supered calls are also used throughout the day.  This 1996 photograph is from the end of a long ID which features both live action (beach scenes) and colorful animation.

Televisa Guadalajara

The city of Guadalajara is Mexico's second largest. Guadalajara is about 1000 miles from our location, which is almost perfect E-skip range. Much has changed with the Televisa stations in recent years. Long-time XEW-2 (Canal de las Estrellas) relayer XEWO-2 relayed XHGC-5 (Canal Cinco) for a few years and eventually became an independent station using the name TVT (TV Tapatia). XEWO-2 is now my most common E-skip ID from Mexico.

XHG-4, a common catch here by Eskip, is a very polished independent station. The station makes its way to north Louisiana more often than any other station (except XEWO-2) from Jalisco. During most years, XHG is one of my most frequently IDed channel 4s from Mexico. Various logos have been used by XHG-4 in recent years. The "GDL" ID below is from July 4, 1999.

XEDK Guadalajara (formerly an independent station) is not received here as often as XEWO-2 and XHG-4. This station operated on channel 6 until 1997. Jeff Kruszka and I first saw XEDK operating on channel 5 in December 1997. According to Fernando Garcia, XEDK moved from channel 6 due to interference from high-powered FM transmitters. The ID above was taped on July 4, 1999.
